Frequently Asked Questions

What do I need to do to prepare for installation?

Before our installers arrive, the surface of the foundation that the carport or structure will be assembled on must be flat as well as easily accessible. We recommend that, for certified structures, the foundation be level within 3" from left to right and front to back.  Be sure to clear the area of any equipment or debris.

How is a carport or metal structure anchored to the foundation?

For installation on cement, concrete lag bolts are used. If installed on concrete footers or a concrete pad, concrete screws are used. If your carport will be installed on a grass, dirt or gravel surface, we will use Rebar.

Auger Anchors may also be required for installation in some gravel or dirt locations. Additional auger anchors, also known as mobile home anchors, are available as a low cost accessory. Auger anchors are required if you're planning on having a three-sided structure installed. Standard placement of the auger anchors is approximately every 10 feet or on every corner of the metal structure, depending on local codes.

What do I do if I need to revise or make additions to my order after it’s been placed?

If you find that you need to make a change to your order, contact our customer support revisions team immediately. You can email us at customerservice {at} ezcarports.com or call us at 877-204-8816 . Your ability to make revisions to your order depends on where your structure is in the manufacturing process. Our customer service team will do their best to help you with any additions or changes you would like to make to your order. However, depending on each particular situation, additional costs may be incurred.

How do I define the proper height of my structure?

The height of your structure should be defined as the lowest point closest to the sides of the structure. This point is known as the "eave height", the "leg height", or the "sidewall height". Be sure to verify the height that any vehicles, equipment, boats, RVs or other storage items will require prior to placing your order with EZCarports.com.

Keep in mind, measure your height needs to match the sidewall height, not the height at the peak of the building.

For more information on terminology visit our Carport Glossary of Terms page.

How long will it take for my carport to be installed after I order it?

Generally speaking, the time it takes between order and installation averages between 3 and 5 weeks.

What is the roof pitch of a metal structure?

3-12 roof pitch is the standard. Please give us a call at 877-204-8816 so we can provide a custom pitch quote. You can also check out our estimated peak height chart.

How many legs, per side, are installed on barns, carports and garages?

For most structures, approximately 4 to 5 feet are required between each frame leg. Our engineers will decide what the best distance would be for each individual piece. If your structure requires multiple garage doors, two feet is required between each door and the corners. For example, if you’d like to put two 8’ x 8’ garage doors on the front of the carport, you would need to order a 22’ wide unit to accommodate the doors. For two 6’x6’ doors, you would need to order an 18’ wide structure.
